"True Motherhood"

Rules for Rearing Children - 2
“Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart.”

Song of Solomon 3:11

"The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world." I've heard this saying all my life, but only recently has it really become clear as to how true it is. We are in a famine for good mothers today! Not just females that can give birth and put food in the mouth of a crying baby, and pacify tantrums of screaming toddlers, but real mothers that can nurture and raise children. God, give us some godly mothers!

America is bankrupt in true motherhood. A mother is not simply one who gives birth. Motherhood is giving birth, giving love, giving care, giving discipline, giving nurturing instruction, and giving hope. Being a mom is sacrifice and hard work. Mothers do without so their children can have what they need. True motherhood is a spiritual gift from God.

Our church needs to have good mothers. We need our children to be raised in homes where motherhood is looked upon with respect and admiration. Mothers, raise your children with love, and with the love according to the Scriptures. Nurture your children with patience, kindness, and firmness. Always have the fruit of the Spirit evident in your life. Pass on a goodly heritage to your children's children.

With the recent home-going of Mrs. Margaret Hill to Heaven, we’ve been reminded that she put Christ first in all that she did. Somewhere in her life, someone instilled the following rules in her and she determined to live them and pass them on. Mothers, let’s teach these rules to our daughters as well.

1. Wherever you are be a lady.
2. Don't raise your voice. Speak softly.
3. When you laugh, do so discreetly.
4. Dress modestly.
5. Stand tall with your shoulders back.

Now, motherhood begins in being a lady. Let's raise our girls to be ladies, and we will be on the road to raising great mothers. (Stay tuned more to come on this!)
