Modern Day Sodom

Rules for Rearing Children - 2“But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.” Genesis 13:13

The sins of Sodom have been resurrected in our day. They have always been present on earth since the arrival of sin, lurking down back-alleys and producing their horrors in secretive ways. Now they strut openly and unashamed and demand that endorsement of society at large. Our President has been openly supportive of this perverted life and our society is walking lockstep with him. The Sodom crowd is demanding acceptance. We need to remember that God has never failed to judge a nation that has given in to such demands. Our generation needs to be warned that Sodom's sins will reap Sodom's doom.

Sodom was infested with a moral perversion. Like our culture, Sodom's culture whitewashed sin. A drunk is called an alcoholic. A thief is a kleptomaniac. The person who commits adultery is said to have had an affair. The person who indulges in the vileness of sodomy is said to be gay. This is truly the symptom of a moral perversion. Just like Sodom, we are infected with it.

Within Sodom, there was also a mental pollution of Sodom. You can read about it in Genesis 19:12-38. Lot's family was living in and among Sodom, and they had become infected mentally. This is a major risk to all Christian people living among the moral perversion of our day as well. This mental pollution was seen in the fact that it corroded Lot's faith (Gen. 19:12-26). Lot had lost every conviction he had. His faith had been defiled. Not only that, but the mental pollution had corrupted Lot's family (Gen. 19:27-38). His wife and kids had been victims of the perversions of Sodom. They had befriended it, and intermarried it, and become just as much a part of Sodom as those who were born into it.

Beware Christian, lest you fall into the same condemnation as Lot's family did. Surrender your heart to the Spirit of God and purge anything from your life that gives place to these sins.
