“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”  Hebrews 11:7

In 1940, teachers identified the top problems in America's schools as talking out of turn, chewing gum, making noise and running in the halls.  In 1990, teachers listed drugs, alcohol, pregnancy, suicide, rape and assault.  These are not good things to get used to, either.
There is coarseness, callousness and a cynicism to our era.  The worst of it has to do with our children.  Our culture seems almost dedicated to the corruption of the young.  We have become accustomed to the cultural rot that is setting in.  People are losing their capacity for shock, disgust and outrage.  The average citizen of this country ought to be filled with outrage at the filth that is being propagated on our young; yet, most of them have become part of the problem.  Our culture has allowed for the broken home, the destroyed family and the corrupt education system, and we have quietly accepted it.
The fix for this is simple.  It is summed up in a word:  revival.  Christians must get thoroughly right with God.  We must not become confrontational with the world, or aggressive with those who are part of this corrupt culture.  Our heart must get so in tune with God that our existence here is in direct contrast with the world.  We must become so transformed by the Holy Spirit that we are completely “unconformed” to the culture around us.  Our lives must become as lights in a dark night.  Our message ought to be the gospel of Jesus Christ.  This is revival.  Whatever the world is we are the opposite. Whatever the world loves we love the opposite. Whatever the world wants we want the opposite.  God’s people living God’s way with God’s heart!  That is revival.
Here it is!  Clear as day, the answer to our cultural problems is here.  We can continue to gripe, complain, hide and grumble; we can accept the world, conform to it, call our worldliness the “new morality,” and blend in; or we can shine!  Our light can be a guiding light to those that are lost, and a light of condemnation on those opposed to God, but we must shine.  You are the answer to our problems.  May God help you to shine.
