"Work of the Ministry"

“For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained
that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 4:16
I am a steward of God's life. All
that I have or am belongs to Him. I
am to manage this life with the understanding that one day I will give
an
account to Him. Of course, the lost man was never imparted this new
life from God, so he will pay for his sin away from God in hell. The
saved, on the other hand, have received this new life from God, and
they are required to be faithful with it.
The question the saved need to ask themselves is,
"What is my new life
in Christ?" I believe we find a Bible answer for that question.
Ephesians 2:10 states plainly that we were "created in Christ Jesus
unto good works." This lays out that the Christian is saved to do good
works for God. Anything other than the good works we have been ordained
to do is unfaithful stewardship.
Let me give you several good works God lays
out for the believer to do for Him.
1. Fellowship with Him - 1 John 1:7
"To walk in the light" is to live in fellowship with the Father and the
Son. This is accomplished by keeping sin from interrupting the
communion we have through His Word and prayer. Confession keeps this
fellowship constant. The blood of Christ is the basis for our
fellowship.
2. Winning others to Christ - John 15:5
Anyone who is abiding in fellowship with Christ will bring forth fruit.
When we abide in Him, and His Word abides in us, then His Holy Spirit
anoints our lives with power and boldness to lift up Christ. This
always results in the lost coming the to Saviour through the work of
the
saints.
3. Loving the brethren - 1 Peter 1:22
This entails a family relationship. When we are in fellowship with the
Father, and exalting the Son in the power of the Holy Spirit, we will
find ourselves among a new family. A family of the reborn! This
relationship is best had within the local New Testament church. It is
here that I find ways to love and serve my brethren. The pastor helps
perfect the people of God (which means mature them) so that they have
the capacity to better serve each other. In the church we can pray,
teach, give and stand with each other.
All of the good works are ordained by God for us to
be the best
Christian we can be. The only requirement to accomplish this is
faithful stewardship of our lives! Let us all go forward in good works.
