"The Word Made Flesh"
“And the Word was made flesh, and
dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father,) full of grace and truth.”
greatest miracle that God has ever performed
is making the Word flesh. To bridge
the eternal distance between God and man,
the infinite God became a little Babe in the
womb of a young virgin. How far He had
to stoop to become us! Such humility
calls for our loudest praise! This
Christmas, meditate on these things, and
then teach them to your children.
Praise God for His becoming Emmanuel, “God
with us.” This Christmas Eve let’s
make the following poem our theme of praise:
Praise Him for the
For the Word made flesh.
I will not sing of shepherds
Watching flocks on frosty nights,
Or angel choristers.
I will not sing of a stable bare in
Or lowing oxen,
Wise men trailing star with gold,
Frankincense, and myrrh.
Tonight I will sing praise to the Father
Who stood on heaven's threshold
And said farewell to His Son
As He stepped across the stars
To Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
And I will sing praise to the infinite,
Who became most finite, a baby
Who would one day be executed for my
Praise Him in the heavens,
Praise Him in the stable,
Praise Him in my heart.
