"Walk in Truth"

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my
children walk in truth.” III
John 4
God’s heart is overjoyed to see His little
children living and abiding in the truth. We ought to be overjoyed to
bring such joy to the heart of our Father, and all that is needed is a
consistent walk in truth. So how does a child of God, who wants to
please his Heavenly Father, accomplish that goal? God gave us the
answer in the statement that “I have no greater joy than to hear that
my children walk in truth.” What a loving Father to give His children a
way to please Him!
The word walk
means to live and act or behave; to pursue a particular course of life.
To walk in truth simply means to live and act the truth, and to make it
the course of our life. If God’s children make the truth to be a way of
life, then they bring the greatest joy to the heart of their Father.
Where then do we find the
truth? In this day and time the truth seems hard to come by. People are
very comfortable with lying, and it seems that promises are made to be
broken. Our hearts themselves are deceitful, and the world is full of
deceivers and the ones being deceived. Many lives today are following
after empty dreams. Television, movies, music and politicians all seem
to be party to the big lie being told. Certainly it is true to say
today, “Truth is fallen in the street.” (Isa. 59:14)
Jesus said, “I am the way, the
truth, and the life.” (John 14:6) Jesus is the very Person of truth. He
said of His Word, “Thy word is truth” (John 17:17). Herein lies the
answer. If God’s children will work diligently to live and act like
Jesus, then they will walk in truth. The pattern is set in His Word. A
daily course set through His Word will form the likeness of Jesus
Christ in the child of God. No wonder the Father’s heart is overjoyed!
When His children are living and acting like His only begotten Son, the
Father is “well pleased”!
