"Sowing the Gospel"
"Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:" --I Samuel 12:23
D. L. Moody once spoke with a woman who didn't like his method of witnessing. He said to her, "I don't really like mine all that much either. What's yours?" She replied that she didn't have one. Moody said, "Then I like mine better than yours."
What is your method of witnessing? Are you...
Confrontationallike Peter was in Acts 2, when he cried out, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ"?
Intellectual like Paul in Acts 17, when he reasoned with the people on Mars’ Hill?
Testimonial like the blind man in John 9, when he said, "One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see."
Relational like the demoniac in Mark 5, when Jesus told him to "Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee."
Invitational like the Samaritan woman in John 4, who said, "Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?"
Serving like Dorcas was in Acts 9, when she was "full of good works and almsdeeds which she did." Many came to know Christ through her busy hands.
Samuel said, "Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and right way: Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you" 1 Samuel 12:23,24. Maybe, America is going in the wrong direction because God's people have neglected to pray without ceasing and to teach the right way! Jesus said, "I am the way." America needs Christ! And no matter which way you tell the Gospel story, just get out of your chair and tell it! Get out and tell others the great things He hath done for you!
When Israel was in captivity, God brought them out by their weeping, sowing and bringing their harvest to Him. Read Psalm 126, and you will see the recipe for salvaging a nation. God's people got happy and began to sing among the heathen, "The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.” Yes, they sowed those precious Gospel seeds, and watered them with their tears, and a great harvest was grown to be brought before the Lord. Let's get busy sowing the Gospel, and weeping for the lost, and soon we will have a harvest of souls to joyfully present before the Lord! Apply this truth, and you will cease being the problem and will become part of the solution.
