The role of the church, in regards to raising teenagers, is to be a help to the parents. One way in which the church helps is through age-appropriate preaching. Because this tool is so important, it is vital that parents be made aware of what is being preached to their teenagers each month. Below is a list of messages that have been preached recently:

   Central Baptist School Chapel
  • "Being A Dreamer" - Bro. Caleb Sobin
    Date: 11/11/2009
    Text: Genesis 27:1-6
Message: Everyone needs to get a dream and set goals in your life.  Your dreams can come true if you first give them to God and be obedient to His Word.  There will be people who discourage your dream.  There will be distractions and disappointments as well.  You must trust God to deliver you and your dreams can come true just like they did for Joseph.

  • "Mistaking The Enemy" - Bro. T.J. Mitchell
    Date: 11/18/2009
    Text: Ephesians 6:13
Message: The Bible tells us that as Christians we have been enlisted by God to fight the enemy. But who is the enemy? Although God's Word tells us that the enemy is Satan, sin, and our flesh, many times we find ourselves fighting those who are not the enemy (parents, pastor, teacher, etc.). Satan will do everything he can to cloud the judgment of a young person so that he/she becomes confused on who the enemy really is. By looking back to God's Word we can see clear attributes that the true enemy can NOT posses, thus clearing up the confusion of the enemy's identity.

  • "Completing Your Mission" - Bro. Brent Bartlett
    Date: 12/2/2009
    Text: Ezra 1:1-3
Message: Each child of God has a mission that we refer to as God's will. The children of Israel completed their mission from God in rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem. The book of Ezra gives us lessons in fulfilling God's will in our lives through adversity.

  • "Christians Who Don't Believe" - Bro. Heath Bartlett
    Date: 12/9/2009
    Text: Psalm 78
Message: God was good to Israel. (vs. 11-16) He promised His blessing, and He promised them victory. God was patient and longsuffering toward them and yet they stilled sinned against Him. (vs. 17-19) Psalm 78 tells about miracles and victories God provided for His people, but every time they turned against Him and sinned. Because of their constant sin, God allowed them to be overtaken. (vs. 56- 64) The whole problem with the Israel especially the tribe of Ephraim is that they did not believe and trust in God. (vs. 22) All of their sin was a direct result of their unbelief. Most of our sin and rebellion comes from a lack of trust in God. We do not really believe He can overcome our sin, or we would give it to Him. We do not believe He can come through with victory for us, so we remain in our sin. Our problems with God (just like Israel) are a direct result or our lack of faith in Him. God can overcome for you. God can win victories for you. Give your battles and sin to Him, and believe Him to win for you.

  • "Attitude"
    Date: 11/15/2009
    Text: Daniel 6:1-3
Message: Daniel was promoted not because of his talents, his intelligence, or his looks, but because of his spirit (or attitude). One's attitude determines everything. If everyone in the church had an attitude like yours what kind of church would we have?

  • "The Sin of Unthankfulness"
    Date: 11/22/2009
    Text: Romans 1:21
Message: In the first chapter of Romans a decription is given of the spiritual condition of the world. With sins such as murder, witchcraft, backbiting, hatred of God, and fornication, the condition of the people is a wicked one. How did it get this bad? If one were to look at verse 21, they would find the one sin that brought about all the others was that of unthankfullness.

  • "Don't Be a Gnat"
    Date: 11/29/2009
    Text: II Chronicles 33:21-24
Message: Bothersome gnats can be captured and killed by simply luring one into a trap because all the other gnats will follow and fall for the same trap. Such is true so many times with Christian teenagers. Although they see many people older than they are make mistakes, often times they will make the same mistake. We must learn from the mistakes of others.

  • "How To Deal With Those You Disagree With"
    Date: 12/6/2009
    Text: Romans 12:10
Message: In a church this size, you are bound to come in contact with those with whom you disagree. Rather than argue or avoid each other, God teaches us in His Word how we are to deal with those types of people.

Note: All Teen Hour messages are by Bro. T.J. Mitchell unless otherwise noted.
