The role of the church, in regards
to raising teenagers, is to be a help to the parents. One way in which
the church helps is through age-appropriate preaching. Because this
tool is so important, it is vital that parents be made aware of what is
being preached to their teenagers each month. Below is a list of
messages that have been preached recently:
Central Baptist School Chapel
- "What Does God Expect Of Me"" - Bro. Brent Bartlett
Date: 01/27/2010
Text: John 15: 1-8
Message: God does not expect me to be a good Christian, but He does expect me to abide in Him. We are expected to have a close walk with God where He is able to lead us to do His will. We won't always be perfect, and God remembers our frame and knows we are but dust. But His expectation is that we abide in Him and allow the Holy Spirit to guide & direct us through life's decisions.
- "Addicted To The Ministry" - Bro. Heath Bartlett
Date: 02/03/2010
Text: I Corinthians 16:15b
Message:
An addict is an ardent supporter or devotee. The word addict today usually carries a bad connotation, but we see in I Cor. 16:15 that a group of Christians was addicted to the ministry.
1. An addict won't think like everyone else; he won't be subjected to peer pressure.
2. An addict will do almost anything to achieve what they desire.
3. An addict won't let outside circumstances keep them from their desire.
4. An addict is under the power or force of another.
These four statements can apply to things that will ruin our lives, or things which can bring great prosperity and success. Addictions aren't bad as long as we're addicted to the right things. What if we were addicted to Bible reading, prayer, and the ministry instead of money, fame, drugs, or pleasure? What are you addicted to? What is your God? If you aren't addicted to the things of God, you will be easily turned away from God's will.
- "Pouring Out Your Heart" - Bro. T.J. Mitchell
Date: 02/10/2010
Text: Psalm 61
Message: In a world filled with heart-ache and pain, Christians must realize the importance of pouring out their hearts to God. It is such a danger for Christians to "bottle-up" their emotions. There must be times in our lives that we pour out our heart to Him.
- "Where Is Your Heart?" - Bro. T.J. Mitchell
Date: 02/17/2010
Text: Jonah 4
Message: Jonah was more concerned with the destruction of a gourd than the lost souls of 12,000 Ninevites. Many times we as Christians focus on the temporary things so much that we take our eyes off eternal matters. At times we must step away from our gourds and focus on the lost.
Teen Hour
- "How To Treat Those That Are Weaker Than You"
Date: 01/17/2010
Text: Romans 14:1
Message: In any size congregation there are going to be people at different stages in their spiritual growth. Some strong; some weak. It is important that stronger Christians treat weaker Christians properly.
- "How To Treat Those That Have Fallen"
Date: 01/24/2010
Text: Galatians 6:1
Message: Unfortunately, we are all sinners, and because of our sin nature some of us fall spiritually. How those that have fallen are treated afterwards is vital to them recovering properly.
- "How To Treat The Heartbroken"
Date: 02/14/2010
Text: Isaiah 61:1
Message: When those around us suffer because of a trial or heart-ache, we often times don't know how to react. How do we comfort them? What do they need from us?
Note: All Teen Hour messages are by Bro. T.J. Mitchell unless otherwise
noted.
